commuter no more

So, today is my last day at the evil-commute-but-otherwise-fine celebrity make-over show. All week my internal monologue has been "only x more times I'll have to make this drive." Next week I'll start at my new job that's less than 10 minutes from my apartment. With gas costing more that $3 a gallon, I'm going to be saving at least $100 a month.

I am really tempted to get a cleaning person with the extra money.

DVR update

The cable repair man came, he saw, he unplugged and re-plugged in the machine. That's all it took. My DVR came back from the dead, which is good, but by a method I could have done myself if customer service had bothered to tell me about it. I mean, I don't like complicated repair projects, but I'm capable of deciphering the unplug/plug in mechanism.

betrayed!

My new DVR broke. I woke up this morning and not even the clock was working. The led panel was just flickering 88:88. When I called Time Warner and (after quite a wait) spoke to the customer service lady, she seemed very dismayed by the clock flickering. She actually said "that doesn't sound good."

I feel like it's a little early in our relationship for the DVR to be testing me like this.
